The other night was another preview thanks to Cineworld Unlimited of Transformers One, which I wasn’t sure I would get to see as Cineworld has been having issues with booking via the App and website and from what I saw of last night’s turn out there could have been plenty of fellow Unlimited Members who couldn’t book to see the film as there were only 5 of us at the screening!
Transformer One is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, who were once friends and bonded like brothers, changing the fate of Cybertron forever.
Now I have to say that after seeing the trailer for the film I was a little sceptical, I was blown away by the animation style in the trailer but thought to myself that this is a film based for the kids to see, but I was so wrong about that. Transformers One is a film that is fun for all ages and it certainly packs in the action, humour and fun that will keep all ages entertained.
The style of animation is perfect for the storytelling of the prequel that takes us back to before Optimus and Megatron were the characters that many of us know now from the big blockbuster movies, we are introduced to Orion Pax (Voiced by Chris Hemsworth) and D-16 (Brian Tyree Henry) two miners that are in the pits of Cybertron mining the valuable ore for Sentinal Prime (Jon Hamm).
There are plenty of treats for Transformers fans in the movie with early looks at characters that many will recognise such as Darkwing (Isaac C. Singleton Jr.), Shockwave (Jason Konopisos-Alvarez), Soundwave (Jon Bailey) and Starscream (Steve Buscemi), this all adds to the film being something that not only gives us a fun, action-packed, prequel to the franchise but also gives us something more than just a story about the history of the two main characters.
Orion Pax, D-16, Elita-1 (Scarlett Johansson) and B-127 (Keegan-Michael Key) head up to the surface to find the long-lost Matrix of Leadership after they discover a clue that could lead them to finally being able to transform and become in the good books of Sentinal Prime. But their quest takes them on a journey of discovery as they find what happened to the Primes of Cybertron and how friendship can be tested.
Transformers One surprised me and I found myself laughing several times during the screening, it’s great to see Bumblebee (B-127) in his very talkative state, he’s very much like a child who can’t stop talking and wants to be awesome. Look out for when an attempt is made to stop him talking.
The music from Brian Tyler in Transformers One is superb, it perfectly suits the film and I have to say that it’s a soundtrack that I could certainly listen to the music on its own.
If you are a fan of toys, cartoon series, movies and comics then Transformers One is a movie you must see. It’s packed with lots to keep all the family entertained and is one that is certainly one of my top movies of 2024 so far.
Does Transformers One Have a Post Credit Scene
Yes, a mid-credit scene with Badassitron is a fairly funny moment as the character returns to some of the “characters” we met earlier in the film. If you wait through the full credits of the film and enjoy the superb music we are treated to a moment with Megatron that certainly gives us the feeling that we could be getting a sequel to Transformers One.
