At SFWX.1 we announced our first tranche of guests for SFW XI and now we would like to make another announcement to introduce our latest additions and to remind you of those already committed to the event.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Bob graduated from the William Penn Charter School and attended Yale University.
His acting career began at Yale when he landed a leading role in Leonard Bernstein’s Mass and later performed it in the European premiere of that work. Bob, then a biology major, abandoned his premed plans and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in drama at age 20. He moved to New York and studied acting at Circle in the Square. In 1977, he made his Broadway debut in the lead role of the comedy hit Gemini. The following season, he won the coveted role of Jack Lemmon’s son in Bernard Slade’s Tribute, re-creating his role in the Los Angeles production. In California, Bob has played leading roles at the Mark Taper Forum, The Pasadena Playhouse, the Berkeley Rep and other venues.

On television, Bob earned an Emmy Nomination for his role as Mr. Cutlip on The Wonder Years. He received the Founders Award from Viewers for Quality Television for his combined work on that show and his starring role as Dr. Richard on the acclaimed Vietnam drama, China Beach. Bob is recognized around the globe for his curmudgeonly Holographic Doctor on seven seasons of Star Trek: Voyager. One of the two Voyager episodes Bob also directed, “One Small Step,” was a moving tribute to the pioneers of space exploration. He has guest starred on many popular television series and starred as Commander Woolsey on Stargate Atlantis. Bob has appeared in over two dozen films, including the Coen Bros comedy, Hail Caesar and pretty much anything ever directed by Joe Dante. Bob is on the Executive Board of the Planetary Society, the space Advocacy non-profit co-founder by Carl Sagan and presently led by Bill Nye.
Also Joining us in our Author Track is the divine FREDA WARRINGTON.
FREDA is a British author, known for her epic fantasy, vampire and supernatural novels. Four of her novels (Dark Cathedral, Pagan Moon, Dracula the Undead, and The Amber Citadel) have been nominated for the British Fantasy Society’s Best Novel award.
Dracula the Undead won the Dracula Society’s 1997 Children of the Night Award. Her novel, Elfland, won the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award in the Fantasy Novel category for 2009. Warrington has also seen numerous short stories published in anthologies and magazines.
Born in Leicester, Warrington grew up in Leicestershire. After completing high school, she trained at the Loughborough College of Art and Design and afterward held a job at the Medical Illustration Department of Leicester Royal Infirmary. She eventually moved to full-time writing, pursuing a love she had had since childhood. In addition to her writing, Warrington works part-time in the Charnwood Forest. Some of her books are set in Leicestershire, such as the Aetherial Tales series, depicting the lives, loves and adventures of magical people living hidden in this region, passing for – and sharing many cultural traits with – ordinary English people.
PAUL FINCH is a former cop and journalist now turned best-selling crime and thriller writer, and is the author of the very popular DS Mark ‘Heck’ Heckenburg and DC Lucy Clayburn novels.
Paul first cut his literary teeth penning episodes of the British TV crime drama, The Bill, and has written extensively in fantasy and science-fiction, including for Doctor Who. He has also scripted two horror movies, which went on to full production and distribution, and is editor of a series of regional horror paperbacks, the Terror Tales books.
However, he is probably best known for his crime/thriller novels, specifically the Heckenburg police-actioners, of which there are seven to date, and the Clayburn procedurals, of which there are two. The first three books in the Heck line achieved official best-seller status, the second being the fastest pre-ordered title in HarperCollins history, while the first Lucy Clayburn novel made the Sunday Times Top 10 list. The Heck series alone has accrued over 2,000 5-star reviews on Amazon. Paul is a native of Wigan, Lancashire, where he still lives with his wife and business partner, Cathy.

DENISE CROSBY created the role of Lt. Tasha Yar on one of the most popular TV series ever, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION. She later returned to play Tasha’s daughter Sela, a role she helped create.
Denise co-starred alongside Fisher Stevens and Jennifer Tilly in the Fox series, KEY WEST, and has played recurring roles on the acclaimed series, NYPD BLUE, THE X-FILES, MAD MEN, and LOIS AND CLARK: THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN.
She has guest starred in numerous TV series, most recently, HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, DEXTER, SCANDAL, CASTLE and the recurring role of Mary in THE WALKING DEAD. Denise played Captain Susan Sallinger on the acclaimed series SOUTHLAND on TNT. She is currently recurring in the role of Deb on the series RAY DONOVAN for SHOWTIME starring Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight, and THE MAGICIANS for SyFy.
She co-starred in Stephen King’s classic film, PET SEMATARY. Denise made her film debut in Walter Hills’ hit 48 HOURS and went on to work with Blake Edwards in THE MAN WHO LOVED WOMEN, and SKIN DEEP with the late John Ritter. She teamed up with Quentin Tarentino in JACKIE BROWN, and Mimi Leder in DEEP IMPACT. Denise has worked in Indies films such as the Sundance Film Festival Winner MIRACLE MILE directed by Steve De Jarnette and THE RED SHOE DIARIES directed by Zalman King.
Denise received an Ovation nomination for Best Actress for her performance in LAST SUMMER AT BLUEFISH COVE directed by Dorothy Lyman. She has done numerous plays, most notably the role of Tamara de Lempicka in the acclaimed play TAMARA. Richard Dreyfuss made his theatrical directing debut with Denise in STOPS ALONG THE WAY. Her most recent stage work includes two critically acclaimed plays directed by legendary acting teacher, Larry Moss, EPITAPH FOR GEORGE DILLON by John Osborne which opened in New York City and BEGGARS IN THE HOUSE OF PLENTY, by John Patrick Shanley at Theater/Theatre in L.A. Denise was recently seen in ORPHEUS DESCENDING by Tennessee Williams, directed by Lou Pepe at Theatre/Theater, alongside actor Gale Harrold. The production was critically acclaimed, nominated for the 2010 L.A. Drama Desk Award for Best Revival and has been singled out in many Best Of 2010 lists. She was last seen in the award-winning premiere of HOUSE OF GOLD directed by Gates McFadden at EST: LOS ANGELES, where she is a company member.
Denise has worn a different hat as Producer and Host of the feature documentary TREKKIES released by Paramount Pictures. The film reteams her with director Roger Nygard who directed her in the Indie comedy HIGH STRUNG, written by comedian Steve Oedekerk. They have also worked together on the sequel, TREKKIES 2 currently out on Paramount Home Video.
Denise currently resides in Pacific Palisades with her husband, writer Ken Sylk, and their son, Augie.
MARINA SIRTIS was born in London, England, to Greek parents, Despina (Yianniri), a tailor’s assistant, and John Sirtis. Her parents did not want her to become an actress.
As soon as Marina completed high school, she secretly applied to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After her graduation, she worked in musical theater, repertory and television.
In 1986, she moved to Los Angeles, California to boost her career. For six months, she auditioned for roles but was unsuccessful. Just before she planned to go back home, she got the role of Counsellor Deanna Troi on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION (1987).
After the series ended, she reprised her role for a string of successful Star Trek films: STAR TREK: GENERATIONS (1994), STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT (1996), STAR TREK: INSURRECTION (1998), and STAR TREK: NEMESIS (2002). In 1992, Sirtis married rock guitarist Michael Lamper.
At 16, SOPHIA MYLES starred in a school production of “Teachers” written by Kevin Godber. Among those in attendance, Julian Fellowes, the Oscar winning writer of Gosford Park (2001).
Sophia was subsequently cast in the BBC production of THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER (1996). Two years later, Sophia was cast as young “Saffron” in the TV mini-series BIG WOMEN (1998). In 1999, after recently enrolling in Cambridge University to study philosophy, she got a small part in MANSFIELD PARK (1999) playing “Susan Price”. Before heading to school, Sophia was cast as “Agnes Fleming” in the TV series, OLIVER TWIST (1999). After which, she dropped out of University pursue acting.
After that, Sophia got a number of small parts in movies and television shows. Most notably, she was cast as Johnny Depp’s wife in FROM HELL (2001). She also starred in THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF NICHOLAS NICKLEBY (2001), THE ABDUCTION CLUB (2002), HEARTBEAT (1992) and FOYLE’S WAR (2002); the latter 2 of which are TV series.
In 2003, Sophia got a supporting role in Underworld (2003) opposite fellow British beauty, Kate Beckinsale (2001)). Sophia went on to be cast in the thriller OUT OF BOUNDS (2003)) as “Louise Thompson.
Later that same year, Sophia was cast in the big screen version of the English cult hit, THUNDERBIRDS (2004). Though the movie didn’t perform as expected, she earned praise for her role as the iconic “Lady Penelope”. Soon, Sophia began working on ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL (2006), playing an American who is the muse of a student in art school. Afterwards, she returned to her television roots, starring in COLDITZ (2005) as “Lizzie Carter”, who is the object of affection and desire for 2 brothers. She then appeared in MARPLE: SLEEPING MURDER (2006).
Sophia was cast in TRISTAN + ISOLDE (2006). She played “Isolde”, the fiery young Irish princess who is promised to an evil man, that she does not love. In 2006, she returned to television starring “Madame de Pompadour” in Doctor Who (2005) as the Doctor’s love interest.
PAUL MCGANN is perhaps best known for playing the eponymous ‘I’ In the cult classic WITHNAIL AND I and the 8th Doctor in Universal film, DOCTOR WHO.
